Katrina was raised in Auburn, Washington, where she graduated from West Auburn High School in 1999. She earned her Associate of Science degree from Penn Foster College in 2020 and became a licensed veterinary technician. After interning at several veterinary hospitals, she realized that a zoo was the place for her. Katrina officially joined the staff of the Ellen Trout Zoo in October 2024 as a veterinary technician. Since then, she has honed her dental cleaning skills, assisted with medication administration, monitored anesthesia, supported surgical procedures, trained animals for medical care, and contributed to many other aspects of the veterinary program.




Favorite Animals: Clouded leopard and jaguar
Favorite Holiday: Thanksgiving - I love the food!
Favorite Color: Black, red, and purple
Little Known Fact: I love to read.
Favorite Memory: Bottle feeding baby brown bear cubs and hand feeding baby tamarin monkeys.
Who Inspired You?: My inspiration was all the animals I had growing up. I knew I wanted to be in the vet field and work in a zoo.
Toughest Challenge: Moving away from family and friends. Learning about how to care for so many different animals (where to start).
