Blake Inabnet
LOUISIANA PINE SNAKE SPECIALIST

A native of Pineville, Louisiana, Blake Inabnet developed an interest in wildlife that led him to study biology at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He graduated in 2024 with a concentration in natural science and a minor in wildlife management. Along the way, Blake gained valuable hands-on experience volunteering with Louisiana Gator Country, the Alexandria Zoo, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. He joined the Ellen Trout Zoo in 2024 and now helps care for and conserve the Louisiana pine snake, an endangered species considered one of the rarest snakes in North America.

Who Inspired You?: My parents.
Toughest Challenge: The zoo field is very competitive, jobs are scarce and often require years of experience. Though it is worth it, it is challenging to get into the field.
Best Advice for Those Wanting to Join the Zoo Field: Volunteer and intern where and whenever you can. The added experience will dramatically help once you're looking for a zoo job.
